Green spaces

We know that access to green spaces is important to local communities, so our expansion plans include proposals for a £105 million investment towards the creation of new and enhanced local public green spaces and new community buildings in the Colne Valley Park and other key areas around Heathrow.

Our proposals could see the creation of parkland approximately four times the size of Hyde Park including better links and access to local countryside and improved recreational facilities.

Our proposals include plans for new:

  • Sports facilities
  • Formal gardens
  • Mountain bike trails
  • Pastures for grazing animals
  • Picnic areas
  • Cross country course
  • Natural ponds
  • Allotments
  • Bridleways

This vision is being developed in collaboration with the Colne Valley Regional Park Community Interest Company (CIC). New green areas to the East, North and South of the airport are also planned. We propose to work with the Friends of the River Crane to improve the quality of the habitat for watercourses to the east of the airport and increase their public amenity value.

Any redevelopment plans would be subject to public consultation as part of a rigorous planning process so local residents would be able to have their say on these plans too.
