BBC programme The Nine to Five with Stacey Dooley gives five teenagers the chance to experience different roles and learn real life lessons with our colleagues.

We’ve caught up with Heathrow’s Irtaza and Colin to find out what it was like to film the episode and their advice to people thinking about a career at Heathrow Airport.

What’s your advice to someone thinking about a career at Heathrow?

There are a diverse range of opportunities available for anyone considering a career at Heathrow. It’s not just a fabulous place to work but a great place to learn new skills and make new friends. Heathrow embraces diversity and an array of cultures from all backgrounds. If you like the buzz of working in a fun and challenging environment then Heathrow is the place to be!

How long have you worked at Heathrow. 

I have worked at Heathrow for the last 14 years.

How would you describe filming for ‘The Nine to Five: with Stacey Dooley’ in three words?

Challenging, inspirational & fun!

Over the course of filming, you shared a lot of knowledge and lessons with participants. Did you learn anything from them?

Sure, I learned that teenagers are at a crucial stage and need guidance to ascertain a direction in life which is determined by the vision of opportunities they either create or are created for them.

What’s your favourite part about showing off your life at Heathrow on TV?

I guess showing the fact that I work a variety of different tasks in my role and the importance of being part of a function that contributes to making Heathrow a success.


Colin Webb – Passenger Experience Manager

What’s your advice to someone thinking about a career at Heathrow?

My advice would to someone thinking about a career at Heathrow would be if they want a career that’s fun and sometimes demanding then Heathrow is the best place to work.

How long have you worked at Heathrow? 

I came to Heathrow expecting to stay for 6 months… I’ve now been here over 20 years!

How would you describe filming for ‘The Nine to Five: with Stacey Dooley’ in three words?

Nerve wrecking & enjoyable

Over the course of filming, you shared a lot of knowledge and lessons with participants. Did you learn anything from them?

I learnt that the students have their whole lives in front of them and wish them the best of luck in the future.

What’s your favourite part about showing off your life at Heathrow on TV?

Every day is different at Heathrow and as a Passenger Experience Manager there are a number of people I work with to provide an excellent service to our passengers.
